Status: Tribal member banished under trial law

In May 2007, the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, based on a reservation in Belcourt, N.D., voted to banish Robert Port for an article, “The Appalling State of North Dakota Indian Reservations,” written for the online newspaper The Dakota Beacon and the political blog www.sayanythingblog.com.
