Dallas developer H. Walker Royall, who planned a marina project in Freeport, Tex. that would have used eminent domain to use waterfront properties containing separate shrimp companies owned by the Gore family and Davis Henderson. The companies sued to stop the condemnation, and also created a website, scandalinfreeport.com, to protest the project. In Nov. 2004, Royall sued over some statements on the site. In Jan. 2009, the parties agreed to a settlement, which included a undisclosed monetary payment to the defendants and a pledge not to seek condemnation of their properties for the marina project.
