The Exclusive Brethren religious group sued Richard K. Wyman, operator of the websites www.exclusivebrethren.net and www.cloudnet.com/~dwyman/pb.html, which criticized the group as a cult and contained documents in which the group claimed exclusive copyright. The group sued for copyright infringement. The parties settled, with Wyman assigning his sites to the Brethren and agreeing not to publicly comment about the group, and the Brethren agreed to pay Wyman $10,000.
